BATTLE CREEK -- Eight teams will play for four volleyball state titles today at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
Pellston will be one of those teams.
Cadillac and McBain will not.
The Vikings and the Ramblers each saw their seasons come to a close Friday with losses in the state semifinals.
In Class B, North Branch advanced with a 25-14, 24-26, 25-16, 25-19 win over Cadillac.
The Vikings had 16 kills, two blocks and eight digs from Abby DeWitt, 10 kills and 11 digs from Emily Rice, seven kills and 16 digs from Kat Hutchinson and 14 digs from Sam Pugh. Janelle Agren led the offense with 32 assists.
Cadillac led 22-18 in the second game before North Branch fought back to tie it at 23-23. However, the Broncos made two errors that gave the Vikings the win.
In Class C, McBain fell short as Bronson earned a 25-12, 25-16, 25-19 win.
The Ramblers had eight kills from Ashley VanHouten, five from Megan VanderVlucht, four from Sarah Westdorp and three from Morgan VanderVlucht, Gabraelle Eurich and Danielle Hoekwater. Morgan VanderVlucht had 20 assists.
After wrapping up its semifinal win on Thursday, Pellston will take on defending champ Battle Creek St. Phillip today for the Class D state title. That match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
