TORCH LAKE — Betsy Powell, of Traverse City, and Rob Nendorf, of Battle Creek, were united in marriage on Aug. 11, 2012, at the Powell cottage on Torch Lake. The Rev. Dr. Homer Nye, retired pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, officiated at the 5 p.m. nuptials.

Betsy chose her cousin, Megan Maloy, of Bloomington, Ind., as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stefanie Remiasz, Liz Olson and Lauren Matecki, all of Chicago; Holly Beckett. of Reno, Nev., Meher Vakil. of New York, N.Y., and Keely Nolan. of Denver. Gloria Hatch. of East Lansing. was the flower girl.

Tim Nendorf of Kalamazoo served as his brother's best man. Rob's groomsmen were the bride's brother, Andy Powell, of Chicago, Marty Duke and Peyton Stanley, both of Battle Creek, Tim Sweder, of Joliet, Ill., Rob Feeney, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Aaron Cumbers, of Chicago. Ushers included the bride's cousins, Spencer Powell and Allison Powell, both of Traverse City, and Alexandra Binder, of Dallas, and a friend of the bride, Tatum Hamaty, of Birmingham, Mich. Dane Hatch, of East Lansing, was the ring bearer.

A reception was hosted at the wedding site immediately following the ceremony. Betsy and Rob enjoyed a brief honeymoon at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and are planning an extended honeymoon at a later date. They are living in Chicago.

Betsy is the daughter of Verne and Lisa Powell, of Traverse City. She received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and business institutions from Northwestern University and is employed in sales at Great Lakes International Trading Inc.

Rob is the son of Faith Nendorf, of Galesburg, Mich., and the late Robert Nendorf. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, and received a master of science degree and a doctorate in mathematics from Northwestern University. Rob is employed at Northwestern University School of Continuing Studies as an instructor of mathematics.
