Woman arrested for home invasion

TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City man woke up to a surprise visitor in his home.

The Traverse City Police Department responded today at about 3:30 a.m. to a reported home invasion at the man's residence in the 100 block of East Eighth Street.

The man and his children were asleep when he awoke to a woman entering his bedroom. He called 911 after the woman left the room.

City police found the woman in the man's bathroom with his cell phone and money taken from his kitchen counter. Police said the woman also had several hundred dollars worth of property they believe was stolen from cars in the area.

The suspect, 29, of Traverse City, was arrested for felony home invasion and larceny from an automobile. She was taken to the Grand Traverse County Jail.

The woman has prior convictions for aggravated assault and drunken driving.
