TRAVERSE CITY —
Virginia Ruth "Ginny" Tiffany, 88, of Traverse City, formerly of Florida and Lockport, N.Y. died Friday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2012, at Treasured Times Assisted Living Facility.
Born Nov. 30, 1924, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Ruby (Russell) Akey.
While living in Lockport, Ginny was employed for many years by General Motors, and upon her retirement she returned to her home community of Traverse City.
Her interests were bowling, golfing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Paula Adams (John) Leavey, of Interlochen, David Jankowiak, of Traverse City, LuAnne (Dan) Lautner, of Cedar, and Christine (Doug) Baudoux, of Clinton Township; sister, Betty Rohdy, of Traverse City; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings Leon (Betty) Crandall and Lorraine (Robert) Klingler.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Traverse City with Deacon Rene Hoenscheid officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place later on the Akey family lot at Oakwood Cemetery.
In remembrance of Ginny, memorials may be directed to the Munson Hospice. Envelopes may be obtained at the church.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Treasured Times, Tammy Broome and Jennifer, Santiago, Joy and Junior Gregario for the wonderful loving care given to Ginny. They truly were her extended family.
