KALKASKA —
Kalkaska police officer faces assault charge
A Kalkaska Village Police Department sergeant faces a misdemeanor assault charge.
Kalkaska County Prosecutor Kirk Metzger said he issued a misdemeanor assault and battery charge against Glenn Artress on Tuesday. Michigan State Police arrested him Monday.
Metzger wouldn't provide details of the allegations against Artress. State police also wouldn't comment.
The village doesn't have a police chief. Village Manager Penny Hill said Artess, who's been with the department nearly 20 years, will be suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Artress is the nephew of former Kalkaska County Sheriff Bill Artress.
