TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West sophomore Erik Anton will be presented with a special award at Sunday’s Michigan High School Hockey Coaches’ Association banquet.
Anton will receive the group’s Perseverence Award, given annually to a Michigan hockey player.
Anton, who missed 13 games with transverse myelitis — which rendered him temporarily paralyzed from the chest down — returned to action with the Titans on Jan. 18 against Gaylord. He missed all the Titans’ games between Nov. 24 and Jan. 17.
The award comes with a $500 scholarship.
