Inland Seas hosts seminar on sturgeon

TRAVERSE CITY — The Inland Seas Education Association will conduct a free public seminar on planning and research for the Great Lakes' sturgeon population.

The event is Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at the association's Education Center, 100 Dame St. in Suttons Bay. The presenter is Marty Holtgren, senior inland fisheries biologist with the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. He will discuss work at a streamside rearing facility in the Manistee River that opened in 2004 and talk about a management plan to protect Great Lakes sturgeon.
