When Kathy Kerby needs to go to Minnesota's Mayo Clinic for medical care, she turns to Wings of Mercy. The nonprofit organization uses volunteer pilots to fly eligible patients back and forth to long-distance medical appointments at no charge.

Doctor invents device after suffering his own pain
A local doctor is marketing a solution to stop shoulder pain. Dr. Michael Carroll fashioned a makeshift traction device for his own shoulder problems, and within days of using the system, Carroll said his pain practically vanished.
