FROM STAFF REPORTS
TRAVERSE CITY -- Defeat is still a foreign word to the Traverse City Wolves.
The Wolves moved to 5-0 on the season Saturday with a 20-2 win over the Motor City Soldiers at Traverse City Central High School.
It ended the first half of the schedule for Traverse City, which has a bye next week.
In Saturday's win, the Wolves held Motor City to just two first downs, and gave up the two points on a safety when a high snap on a first-half punt went to the end zone.
Traverse City took a 3-2 lead into halftime and extended it in the third quarter with rushing touchdowns from quarterback Will Moran and fullback DJ Szymoniak.
Pablo Bocardo kicked 35- and 38-yard field goals in addition to a pair of extra points to round out the scoring.
Szymoniak ran 18 times for 94 yards. Moran was 3-for-11 for 15 yards as Bryan Travis, Nicholas Carlson and Szymoniak all hauled in passes.
Jesse Kethman also had a 25-yard run.
Defensively, Mike Hansen led the way with 11 tackles and a couple of sacks while Joe Badgley had 10 tackles, including three for a loss.
Ryan Brown added seven tackles, Tyler Alpers and Zane Barnes each had six while Darnell Wilson and Bocardo each recorded four.
The Wolves will be in action again on Aug. 29 in Racine, Wis. The next home game is Sept. 12 against London, Ont.
When Traverse City returns, it will look to continue winning in dominant fashion.
In the first five games this season, the Wolves are out-scoring opponents by a margin of 197-23.
