TRAVERSE CITY — Early and often.
That's how the Traverse City Wolves scored in a 78-13 win over the London Silverbacks to improve to 4-0 in the North American Football League play Saturday at Thirlby Field.
The Wolves never punted.
Traverse City ran for 272 yards and quarterback Aaron James threw for 168 more as the Wolves dominated on both sides of the ball.
Running back B.J. Chandler ran for 124 yards and three touchdowns, as the Wolves led 21-7 after one quarter and 42-7 at halftime against the Silverbacks, who had to travel here instead of hosting the game because the team failed to show up last week for a scheduled game in Traverse City.
Defensive ends Mike Bowen and Darnell Wilson each scored on short touchdown runs.
Josh Tomaszewski grabbed three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown and Jamarcus Martin had three catches for 72 yards.
The defense — which limited London to 195 yards — was led by linebacker Tyler Alpers, who had eight tackles.
Karey Morrow (five tackles, sack), Jay Peitsch (six tackles, sack), Wilson (five tackles, forced fumble, sack), Ryan Brown (six tackles), Brandson Anderson (five tackles) and Everest Briggs (five tackles) also played well. Briggs stepped into the starting lineup in place of fellow cornerback Corey Edwards, who scored two touchdown in the Wolves' last contest.
Traverse City hosts Indianapolis next Saturday at Thirlby Field.

In the first quarter of Rick Micham's first game as head coach of the TC Wolves, the team's first two quarterbacks are knocked out with injuries and Micham has to turn to his All-Star kicker to go take snaps.
For most coaches, the situation may have come with a lot of stress. But most coaches don't have Pablo Bocardo.
"We would have very easily put him at that starting (quarterback) role, but as valuable as he is kicking the ball, that's huge for us," Micham said.
