TC West splits 2 matches

Traverse City West lost to Big North rival Gaylord 56-12, but defeated St. Francis 39-30 in wrestling duals.

Finishing 2-0 for the Titans were Rob Innis at 130, Kyle Schaub at 140 and Brandon Dalzell at 215.

Winning one match were Caleb Case at 103, Mike Ostrom at 112, Collin Jandreski at 119, Caleb Horn at 160 and Cody Thomas at heavyweight.

Petoskey tops TC Central

Petoskey pinned down a 55-20 Big North Conference victory over Traverse City Central.

The Trojans won four matches -- Julian Diaz (130 pounds) by a 7-3 decision; Zack Roberge (171) by technical fall; Scott Rademaker (215) by pin in 3:38; and Cody Vickers (285) by pin in 1:32.

Julien McCuien won two junior varsity exhibitions, both by pin (1:10 and 2:58).

TC Central hosts team districts on Wednesday, facing off with Traverse City West at 6 p.m. The winner takes on Rockford.

Arthur to wrestle for state title

Traverse City St. Francis Isaiah Schaub and Paul Britten will attempt to work their way back through the Division 4 consolation bracket on Saturday to wrestle for third place in their weight classes after semifinal losses Friday evening.
